SACRAMENTO – The California Legislative Women’s Caucus (LWC), a bipartisan caucus made up of California’s 50 women Senators and Assemblymembers, today announced its 2024 priority bill package — 15 bills authored exclusively by women legislators and selected by a vote of the full caucus membership.

This year’s bills address critical issues facing women and children such as women’s economic security, hospital maternity ward closures, quality early care and education for California’s children age 0 to 4, reproductive healthcare, and issues related to sexual assault. 

SACRAMENTO – California Legislative Women’s Caucus (LWC) Chair Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) and Vice Chair Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), in partnership with Gov. Gavin Newsom, announced the introduction of new abortion rights legislation today, responding to Arizona’s sweeping ban on reproductive care. An urgency measure, SB 233 would allow Arizona reproductive care providers to immediately perform abortion services in California under an expedited medical licensing process.

SACRAMENTO – In recognition of Women’s History Month, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus (LWC) today will host the 2024 California Women Making HERstory floor ceremony in both houses of the Legislature honoring eight women from across the state for their exemplary and trailblazing achievements.

SACRAMENTO — The California Assembly and Senate have passed the 2023 legislative package championed by the California Future of Abortion Council (CA FAB Council) and introduced by the California Legislative Women’s Caucus (LWC). The package strengthens existing measures to defend access to abortion care and contraception in California. The CA FAB Council Steering Committee and the LWC urge Governor Gavin Newsom to sign  the package of bills to advance California’s leadership in prioritizing, protecting, and expanding reproductive freedom and access to essential health services.

SACRAMENTO – In a historic move, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus has formally called on the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold civil restraining orders that have proven to be effective in protecting women and reducing gun violence.
