Legislative Women’s Caucus Commemorates Pelosi’s Swearing-In

California Women lawmakers congratulate new Speaker of the House, and hail event as a landmark achievement.

SACRAMENTO — Assemblywoman Patty Berg, incoming Chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus, and Senator Christine Kehoe, Chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus, issued the following statement on Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi’s swearing-in:

Her ascension to Speaker of the House -- making her the first woman and Californian ever in the line of succession to become President of the United States – is an historic milestone in the movement for equality in this country.
