SACRAMENTO — The Legislative Women, the largest caucus in the state Legislature, installed its new leadership Wednesday evening, naming Assemblywoman Patty Berg as chair and Sen. Gloria Negrete McLeod as vice chair.

“I am deeply honored to be the chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus,” said Berg. “California is fortunate to have so many talented and dedicated women in the Legislature, and I am very fortunate that these women have chosen me for a position of leadership.”

The 34-member caucus promotes legislative and budget policies to improve the lives of women, children and families throughout California. The caucus also seeks to empower women to be self sufficient, independent and equal partners in all aspects of their lives.

“I am pleased to serve as vice chair of the Caucus,” said Senator Negrete McLeod. “I will work closely with Patty to ensure women and families are listened to in the legislature.”

The chair of the caucus alternates yearly between a member of the Assembly and member of the Senate, and the vice chair is elected from the opposite house of the chair.
